Board of Directors

Members of our Board of Directors manage all of the Foundation’s business and represent the organization in the community. Directors bring diverse skillsets and perspectives to the organization and serve different roles helping to carry out the Foundation’s mission. The Foundations by-laws stipulate that all directors are at least eighteen years of age and current residents of the Borough of West Mifflin. Individuals are ineligible to serve as Directors while also serving as a local elected official in the Borough or School District.

Nick Pisciottano, President

Nick is a lifelong resident of West Mifflin who graduated from West Mifflin Area High School in 2008. He works as a Certified Public Accountant, serves as President of the Foundation, Secretary of the West Mifflin Economic Development Board, and volunteers with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh. Nick is proud to lead the Foundation in its efforts to improve and enrich the West Mifflin community and especially enjoys the biannual Senior Brunch & Bingo events hosted by the Foundation for West Mifflin’s senior citizens.

In his role as President, Nick is responsible for managing the Foundation’s operations, chairing meetings of the Board of Directors, serving as the Foundation’s public representative, and overseeing all of the Foundation’s activities and events.

 

Bob Macey, Trustee

Bob is a longtime resident of West Mifflin and founder of the West Mifflin Community Foundation. A prolific public servant, Bob has served on the board of a wide variety of charitable organizations including the Duquesne-West Mifflin Rotary, Mon-Yough Area Chamber of Commerce, Regional Chamber Alliance Foundation, and Mifflin Township Historical Society. He also represents the Mon Valley as the elected member from District 9 on Allegheny County Council and previously served on the Allegheny County Airport Authority. Bob began his career like many others in our community working in the United States Steel Works Mill in Duquesne where he was elected Financial Secretary of U.S.W.A. Local 1256. His dedication to improving the lives of his neighbors throughout the Mon Valley community has been a core tenet of his life and he serves as an inspiration to other members of the Foundation.

In his role as Trustee, Bob serves as a liaison between the Foundation and external organizations including government bodies and other regional nonprofits. His long and varied experience as a public servant supplies the Board of Directors with valuable strategic guidance to help the organization achieve its goals.

 

Marci Palko, Treasurer

Marci is a lifelong resident and graduate of West Mifflin with 2 children graduating from West Mifflin and a third currently in high school. An employee of West Mifflin Borough working in Borough Administration she helps keep our community running smoothly. Alongside Mayor Kelly, Marci spearheaded the creation of West Mifflin’s Little Library program which currently includes 10 locations throughout the community. Previously, she served as Treasurer of the PTA at New England Elementary School for 4 years and currently serves on the Borough’s Recreation Committee. Marci especially enjoyed the Foundation’s Bark in the Park event that showcased the proposed plans for the West Mifflin Dog Park as well as helped to socialize the Foundation’s mission to the community.

Serving in her role as the Foundation’s Treasurer, Marci manages the Foundation’s fiscal operations and conducts oversight of the Foundation’s accounts and records. Her efforts contribute to maintaining the Foundation’s 501(c)(3) registration, completing the Foundation’s annual income tax return, and compiling annual financial statements.

 

Ken Donahoe, Secretary

Ken is a lifelong resident of West Mifflin who graduated from West Mifflin Area High School in 2005 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Communications / Corporate Relations from the University of Pittsburgh.  He currently works as an Account Manager for Dayton Freight Lines. Ken enjoys meeting members of the community at the Foundation’s events.  He also loves working with his colleagues on projects benefiting residents of West Mifflin and neighboring boroughs.  Ken’s favorite event to this point has been the Mon Valley Arts Fest.

As the Foundation’s Secretary, Ken is responsible for recording the activities taken at meetings of the Board of Directors, maintaining a historical record of meeting minutes, and maintaining the official copy of the Foundation’s by-laws. Ken also serves as a member of the Fundraising Committee.

 

Ray Rost, Director / Chair of Fundraising Committee

Ray was born and raised in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood and moved to West Mifflin 6 years ago. Serving as a social studies teacher at West Mifflin for over 20 years, he has been involved in the education of nearly a generation of West Mifflin students while also serving as a coach and sponsor for numerous clubs and activities. In addition to being a resident and teacher in West Mifflin, he is also a local business owner. Ray believes that community service is an integral part of life and incorporates that view into his civics lessons while trying to impress the importance of giving back to the next generation. His favorite work with the Foundation has been leading the charge to build a dog park in West Mifflin.

An indefatigable fundraiser and idea man, Ray chairs the Foundation’s Fundraising Committee which is responsible for developing donation-generating initiatives and events. The Foundation’s most successful events usually began as an idea in Ray’s head.

 

Ryan Donahoe, Director

Ryan is a long time West Mifflin resident who graduated from West Mifflin Area High School in 1998.  Graduating from CCAC and then the University of Pittsburgh, Ryan works for Coca-Cola as a District Sales Manager. He and his wife Hilary, also a WM grad, have a young daughter named Ruby who keeps them both busy. Ryan also serves on the West Mifflin Democratic Committee, is a member of the Foundation’s Fundraising Committee, and enjoys volunteering to improve his hometown for the next generation. His favorite Foundation event so far has been the Mon Valley Arts Fest.

 

 

Cathy Trexler, Director

Cathy relocated to West Mifflin in 2015. A graduate of Robert Morris University, she works as a Management Analyst for Allegheny County Public Works where she led the department’s initial accreditation with the American Public Works Association in 2007, becoming the first public works agency in Pennsylvania to achieve that honor. She serves on the board of APWA’s Western Pennsylvania Chapter representing 25 PA counties at national conferences and in legislative advocacy. Additionally, Cathy served on the boards of the South Hills Area Council of Governments and Economic Development South while serving on Council in her former community of Brentwood Borough.

 

Ryan Kiray, Director

Ryan is a longtime resident of West Mifflin and a 2006 graduate of West Mifflin Area High School. After graduating, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, earning a dual degree in History and Psychology before obtaining  his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He currently works as an Assistant District Attorney in the Homicide Unit of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, and passes on his skills as a trial attorney as the attorney advisor of West Mifflin High School’s mock trial program.  He is also a volunteer mentor in Pitt Law’s alumni mentoring program, advising first year law students on transitioning to law school and planning for future careers in the legal field, and is a member of the West Mifflin Democratic Committee.

Ryan joined the Community Foundation in 2019 and is committed to the Foundation’s mission to improve the community for this and future generations of West Mifflin residents.

 

Nick Pisciottano Sr,  Director

Nick Sr is a longtime resident of West Mifflin who raised two sons with his wife Melissa. His position as Director of Operations at a local technology company sees him interact with businesses and local governments throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. In the past, he served as a Director of the Foundation during its early years, President of the West Mifflin Soccer Club, President of the West Mifflin Soccer boosters, and a regional director for PA West Soccer Association.
