West Mifflin Dog Park

UPDATE – June 25, 2020

The Dog Park is OPEN! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿ•
Earlier today, representatives from U.S. Steel, the Foundation, the Borough, and the state officially “cut the leash” to open the West Mifflin Dog Park!
The space is over 1,400 square feet divided into Large Dog and Small Dog areas and is now open to all residents of West Mifflin and their furry friends.
This park began as an idea from Gianna Baker and Lizzie Ruscak in their high school civics class!
Thank you to Don and Diana German from U.S. Steel, Representative Bill Kortz, Senator Jim Brewster, Mayor Chris Kelly and all the members of the West Mifflin community for your help and support in turning Gianna and Lizzie’s idea into a reality.
The park is located below Glenny Lane with parking lot access from the paved driveway across the street from 2814 Homestead-Duquesne Road and is open every day until dusk.
** Special thanks to Andy Quayle for the awesome aerial pictures! **

UPDATE – January 10, 2020

Exciting news! The Foundation is happy to announce that through a generous donation from U.S. Steel and support from the West Mifflin community, we now have necessary funding to construct the West Mifflin Dog Park!

Members of the Foundation were on hand at the proposed dog park site today with local officials and representatives from U.S. Steel to receive their $20,000 donation which will be used to purchase the fencing for the park.

The Foundation would like to thank Don German and Kurt Barshick of U.S. Steel for their generosity, andย Rep. Bill Kortz,ย Senator Jim Brewster, County Councilman Macey, Mayor Kelly, Council President Marone, and Councilman Inglis for their support.

Construction will begin in the spring and we hope to have the dog park open before the summer months. Keep an eye on our page for updates!
